This year we will once again celebrate Holy Week with processions and masses.
Easter Week is one of the most important and followed by the whole community of Cuglieri and beyond.
The processions take place in the streets of the old town, accompanied by the sacred songs of the Confraternities that make this celebration so special.
The polyphonies are a Sardinian peculiarity, these brotherhoods are known at least since the seventeenth century.
During the Holy Week, the repertoire is performed by groups of 4 singers according to a natural register from low to high. Most of the songs are in Latin and take up liturgical texts, but some are in Sardinian. These songs accompany the processions and the scenes that illustrate the Passion, scenes that are performed at the end of the service inside the church or on the route between two churches. The Easter Sunday Mass brings these events to a close.
